St. Francis Crosses the Strait

Church of St. Francis of Paola
Laureana di Borrello, Italy

According to the legend, the saint used his own cloak as the vessel on which he sailed across the Strait of Messina. The lamb in the foreground is an attribute, alluding to the miracle by which a man's dead lamb came back to life when the man simply wondered if Francis might resurrect it.
